ARTIST AND ACTRESS

VIRGINIA DEAVER

Photograph by Gregory Sylvester, 2024

Virginia Deaver is a Los Angeles based painter and actress. Born and raised in the hills of eastern Kentucky, Deaver draws heavy inspiration from the vivacious tones and spirits of rural Appalachia. Her work often explores themes on contemporary Americana, sexuality, and hope.

In an homage to early folk art, Deaver veers from hyperrealism techniques in favor of a new surrealist style which captures deliberate naïveté; through her paintings, Deaver works to unveil an intercourse between long standing paradigms of classic literature and the unknowns of innocence.
